Spring played the greatest April Fool’s joke on us with 60 degree weather followed by SNOW on April 1st. Good one, Spring. VERY FUNNY.
Is it just me, or do all of your skincare products tend to run out at the same time? Even though I usually mix and match brands, they all tend to run out together. The plus side of that is getting to reinvent my skincare routine, which is exactly what I had to do in March. I used the opportunity to find some natural skincare products, which became my favorite finds of the month, naturally.
In addition to my new beauty routine, here’s my monthly favorites from March in the categories of beauty, clothing, kids stuff, and entertainment.
Beauty
Garnier Milk Face Wash with Rose Water – This was recommended to me by a beauty YouTuber as a good alternative to micellar water for dry skin. The rose water smells lovely. It’s 98% natural, and the label actually breaks down what that means for each ingredient. I use it to take off my makeup as the first step in my skincare routine.
Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser – From France (Oooh! Ahhh!) this foaming cleanser is pricer than I would usually buy, but I wanted a natural cleanser and felt fancy. It’s worth it for the smell alone – and I feel tres chic using it. It’s the first foaming cleanser I’ve ever used, and I might be hooked. I use it after the milky cleanser removes my makeup, so this can penetrate my skin and do the deep cleaning. My skin feels super soft after using it, and did I mention how good it smells?!
Garnier Facial Mist Spray with Rose Water – I finish my skincare routine by spritzing this on. Also, you can use it throughout the day if your skin feels dry. To be honest, it’s not as hydrating as my skin needs before bed, so I usually follow up with Weleda Skin Food. It would be great for morning skincare though, before or after make up.
Winter Blend Shampoo – Maple Holistics gifted me this bottle of their winter blend shampoo to try, and I can now confidently say I’m a fan! Since switching to this, I’ve had no issues with flakes and my hair is super silky and soft, thanks to all the oils and “mint medley” of wild mint, bergamot mint, spearmint, peppermint, and eucalyptus mint. The mint medley is also supposed to help stimulate hair growth, which is perfect for my postpartum hair loss. Since their products are made in New Jersey, it’s practically local, plus it’s cruelty free, natural, vegan, and ethically made!
Clothing
Ban.do gym bag – I bought this on Poshmark for a great deal, brand new! It makes me excited to go to the gym, because it’s so very pretty! If you haven’t shopped on Poshmark yet, you totally should. It’s like the world’s biggest consignment store! In the video I mentioned my friend Bre’s Poshmark closet – go check it out!
Homebody Sweater – I’m basically living in this sweater until spring. And probably after that too. It’s so soft and cute! I bought it from my friend Kimmy’s Etsy shop, Drift Design Co. She’s an incredible handletterer and artist.
Running Tank Top – I picked up this “She is Strong” tank top from Drift Design Co. also, and I plan to wear it after my half-marathon!
Kids
Kids: Even though Edison’s school doesn’t celebrate holidays technically, they did bring in some high schoolers from the local dance school to teach the preschoolers Irish dancing, as you’ll see in the video. So, so cute!
Weekend getaways- We took a quick overnight trip to New Haven to see the ocean and just explore. Come to find out, there was an IKEA right next to our hotel, so of course, we checked it out and shopped for our new kitchen. We ate hamburgers from the place they were invented and the best donuts ever, explored Yale, and the Beineke Library of Rare books. Watch for the video of our trip, coming soon!
Entertainment
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society – I’ve been telling everyone about this movie on Netflix. First, it stars the same girl who plays Cinderella (Lilly James) as a writer who goes to Guernsey to write about the book club that formed under the Nazi occupation. Secondly, it’s a great romance that never gets overly cheesy. Third, it’s a powerful reminder that in humanities worst times, good shines through. It’s beautiful, from the costumes and the setting to the story.
