In this week’s video, I’m tackling my biggest organizing challenge yet: this storage closet for our local moms group!
I will get to that in a minute – but first, yesterday was World Human Trafficking Awareness Day. If you’re a loooooong-time follower you may remember when I wore 10 items of clothing for 30 days to raise awareness of human trafficking, and the series called “Fashion for Freedom.” I often think of that month as a major turning point in my life. I learned so much about my motives for shopping and buying what I do, how little I actually need, and how much of a difference I can make with my purchasing decisions.
And most of all, how much of a difference I can make by using my voice to share about human rights issues like this.
One of my favorite organizations to follow and donate to is the International Justice Mission. This well-respected organization works to rescue victims of human trafficking, bring perpetrators to justice, and reform and build better systems to prevent it from continuing.
Over the last few months, I’ve been learning so much about the continuing consequences of slavery in our country as well. The Equal Justice Initiative works to bring about criminal justice reform, racial justice, and public education. The movie “Just Mercy” is based on this organization’s founder, and I believe it’s available on Amazon Prime.

This week’s video may indeed be my biggest organizational challenge yet! I spent about seven-eight hours on this church storage closet, and I’m so pleased with how it turned out! I only had to buy one drawer unit and two magazine holders (those are from Dollar Tree!). The rest of the transformation just required hard work, as you’ll see from the video – I hardly stopped moving and I was soaked in sweat by the end of each day! It’s absolutely worth it to me! 🙌
