I challenged myself to create 12 Days of DIYs for Christmas – and ended up with six videos and over 40 actual projects! In this post, I’ll share my three Buy or DIY videos using Dollar Tree items to recreate expensive-looking items from Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Anthropologie. Vote in the comments: which would you buy, and which would you DIY?
Day 1: West Elm Recreations
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, three West Elm Christmas decor recreations from the Dollar Tree! Today I’m making a white lacquered nutcracker, a forest globe ornament, and a wooden house advent calendar using all things from Dollar Tree (the wood house I thrifted, but the sticker on the back says it was originally from Dollar Tree).
Which DIY is your favorite? Would you BUY or DIY these? Let me know in the comments below!
You’ll Need:
- bottle brush trees
- glass terrarium (option for the forest ornament)
- Food coloring and watercolors
- Nutcracker figurine
- Wooden house
- Epsom salt
- White chalk Paint

Day 3: Potter Barn Recreations
On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, 10 Pottery Barn gifts made from things at Dollar Tree! Today I’m making glitter letter ornaments, a Christmas village, white light up trees, star twinkle lights, church stocking holder, white fuzzy sphere ornament, a sweater stocking, a plaid pillow, a plaid picture frame, and a photo ornament.
